There has been perhaps no greater champion of BoricuActivatEd than Rev. Luis Cortés, the founder of Esperanza US.  From the beginning of our organization, he has believed in our mission and shared our goal of empowering the community.  We are honored that he and his team at Esperanza Academy Charter School in Philadelphia have partnered with us to teach their students the skills needed to become active participants in civic democracy.

BoricuActivatEd is proud to celebrate our fourth year partnering with the school.  In the process, we have given hundreds of students the chance to learn how to stand up for themselves, for their community and to promote issues of importance to them.  We are now part of the school’s curriculum, which includes four courses for high school students, including classes designed for honor students.

This partnership is critical to fulfilling our mission to help develop the next generation of leaders who will have the capacity to interact with their elected officials—and, perhaps, become the next generation of elected officials themselves.
