OUR MISSION
Our mission is to improve the everyday lives of people living in Puerto Rico by amplifying the voice of the Puerto Rican Diaspora on the mainland.
OUR VISION
BoricuActivatEd believes that greater civic engagement by mainland Puerto Ricans will lead to better-informed policies towards Puerto Rico, and result in a higher quality of living for our family and friends on the Island.
OUR NAME BORICUACTIVATED
“Boricua” is a Spanish word derived from the native Taíno word “Boriken,” (the great land of the valiant and noble Lord), and is often used as a synonym for Puerto Rican. Our name, BoricuActivatEd, encompasses the group we want to reach (“boricuas” on the U.S. mainland), what we want to achieve (“activating” them to amplify their voice) and how we will achieve this goal (“Ed,” through education and community engagement).
“Now I have tools in my hand that I can
apply right away, and that means
so much to me.”
